Nur wenig hat sich vom Hauptheiligtum, dem großen Apollon-Komplex erhalten, sodass man auf Rekonstruktionen angewiesen ist. Neben großen Tempelanlagen, Kult-, Bankett- und Versammlungsräumen umgeben gleich mehrere Schatzhäuser den riesigen Komplex. Sie wurden von Stadtstaaten gestiftet, um die beweglichen Weihegeschenke für den Gott der Künste aufzunehmen. Im Haupttempel thronte eine Apollostatue von 9 m Höhe. Die Gottesverehrung, die Opferung von Tieren oder die Übergabe von Weihegeschenken erfolgte jedoch meist im Freien vor dem Tempel. Eine gut organisierte Priesterschicht managte die Pilgerscharen und das Heiligtum wie ein höchst profitables Wirtschaftsunternehmen.
Little has survived from the main shrine, the great Apollon complex, so reconstruction is needed. In addition to large temples, cult, banquet and meeting rooms, several treasure houses surround the huge complex. They were donated by city-states to receive the movable consecration gifts for the god of arts. In the main temple a 9 m high Apollo statue is enthroned. The worship of God, the sacrifice of animals or the delivery of consecration gifts, however, was mostly held out in the open air in front of the temple. A well-organized priestly tribe managed to make the pilgrims and the sanctuary a highly profitable business.
