The Sithonia peninsula Griechenland, Sithonia bewitches the visitor with beautiful sandy and rocky beaches. The monastery peninsula of Athos, only accessible by boad, remains almost untouched by tourism and is strictly off limits to women. Men with a written confirmation of their intention of a pilgrimage have - in theory - the possibility of a visit but have to apply for a permit months in advance. For most nothing remains but the view from Sithonia to Mount Athos with its 2000 meters.
Die Halbinsel Sithonia Griechenland, Sithonia betört mit schönen Sand- und Felsstränden. Vom Tourismus weitgehend verschont bleibt die nur mit dem Boot erreichbare Klosterhalbinsel Athos. Frauen haben grundsätzlich keinen Zutritt. Für Männer mit schriftlich dokumentierter Pilgerabsicht besteht zwar die theoretische Möglichkeit eines Besuches, doch sind schon Monate vorab langwierige Genehmigungsprozeduren erforderlich. Den meisten bleibt nur der Blick von Sithonia auf den gut 2000m hohen Berg Athos.
