In central Berlin several museums are clustered on an island in the river Spree and one of them is the Bode Museum Bode-Museum, Berlin, Deutschland which is housed in a historically preserved building at the waterfront. The construction of the building was completed in 1904 and was originally called Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum in remembrance of Emperor Frederick III. In 1956 the museum was renamed in honour of its first curator Wilhelm von Bode.
