Bautzen - Reichenturm#

The 'Reichenturm' is part of the former fortification of Bautzen Bautzen , the Sorbian Budysin, dating back to 1492. After a fire in 1709, the tower was rebuilt in a solid construction, and in 1718 it received its baroque top. The old foundation of the tower proved to be too weak for these massive constructions, with the result that the tower today deviates by almost 1.5 m from the vertical - the tilting motion could only be stopped in 1953/54. Therefore, the tower is also called 'Leaning Tower'.

Der Reichenturm ist ein Teil der ehemaligen Stadtbefestigung von Bautzen Bautzen , sorbisch Budysin, aus dem Jahre 1492. Nach einem Brand im Jahre 1709 wurde der Turm wieder in massiver Bauweise aufgebaut und erhielt dabei im Jahre 1718 seinen Barockaufsatz. Das alte Fundament des Turms erwies sich für diese massiven Aufbauten wohl als zu schwach, sodass der Turm heute um fast 1,5 m von der Senkrechten abweicht - die Neigungsbewegung konnte erst 1953/54 gestoppt werden. Der Turm wird daher auch 'Schiefer Turm' genannt.
