The importance of Brest is due to the strategically major naval and sea port where the French Atlantic Navy is positioned. With all kinds of art works and pedestrian zones, the city tries to get a more pleasing image - although with only moderate success.
Ihre Bedeutung verdankt Brest bis heute dem strategisch wichtigen Marine- und Handelshafen, an dem die französische Atlantikflotte stationiert ist. Mit allerlei Kunstwerken und großzügigen Fußgängerzonen versucht sich die Stadt ein gefälligeres Image zu geben - mit allerdings nur mäßigem Erfolg.
