The lighthouse of Ploumanac´h is situated in the bizarre rock world, which did not only attract painters and writers ever since. 300 million years ago, the granite coloured by hematite was formed during a collision of two primal continents. Tectonic load caused fractures that split the rock into rectangular chasms. Then the erosion formed the structure into imaginative figures that have ghostly names like devil castle or Napoleon's hut and form a backdrop you will not quickly forget.
Der Leuchtturm von Ploumanac´h steht verloren in der bizarren Steinwelt, die seit jeher nicht nur Maler und Schriftsteller anzog. Gebildet wurde der von Hämatit rosa gefärbte Granit vor 300 Millionen Jahren im Zuge der Kollision zweier Urkontinente. Durch tektonische Beanspruchung entstanden Spalt- und Dehnungsbrüche, die das Gestein in rechtwinkelige Klüfte spaltete. Dann formte die Erosion die Gebilde zu fantasievollen Figuren, die gespenstische Namen wie „Teufelsschloss“ oder „Napoleons Hut“ tragen und eine Kulisse bilden, die man nicht so schnell vergisst.
