Als die Stadt im Kaiserpalast im 12. Jahrhundert aus allen Nähten platzte, entschloss man sich, sie nach Westen zu erweitern. So entstand Novi Grad, die Neustadt, geschützt von einer venezianischen Hafenfestung.
When the city in the emperor´s palace was bursting at the seams, people decided to expand it to the West. This is how Novi Grad was founded, the new city, secured by a venetian harbour fortress.
