Imotski - Blue Lake#

Der brüchige Kalkstein hat in der Nähe von Imotski Imotski, Croatia ein kroatisches Naturwunder geschaffen. Wenn die Decke einer Höhle einstürzt, bleibt ein Karsttrichter übrig, eine sogenannte Einsturzdoline. Manchmal füllen sich diese Krater mit Wasser wie im Falle des blauen Sees. 400 bis 900 m hohe Felswände rahmen das bis zu 100 m tiefe Gewässer ein. Der Grund des Sees liegt sogar unterhalb des Meeresspiegels.

The brittle limestone has created a Croatian natural wonder near Imotski Imotski, Croatia . When the ceiling of a cave collapses, a karst funnel remains, a so-called collapse doline. Sometimes these craters fill up with water as in the case of the blue lake. 400 to 900 m high rock walls frame the up to 100 m deep waters. The bottom of the lake is even below sea level.
