The Arab dress code has survived all the profound economic cataclysms in the Gulf states unscathed. Since time immemorial, local men dress in a long white robe made of cotton called dishdasha, while women are wrapped in black cloaks, the abayas. Underneath, they often wear fashionable clothes.
Die arabische Kleiderordnung hat alle tiefgreifenden wirtschaftlichen Umwälzungen in den Golfstaaten unbeschadet überstanden. Wie eh und je kleiden sich die einheimischen Männer in ein langes weißes Gewand aus Baumwolle, das dishdasha, während sich die Frauen unter schwarzen Umhängen, den abayas, verhüllen. Darunter tragen sie oftmals modische Kleidung.
