Rusafa Resafa, Syria experienced another golden age after the Islamic conquest of the city in the 7th century. The Umayyad caliphs used the site as a summer residence. Nevertheless the city remained mainly Christian. Mit der islamischen Eroberung der Stadt im 7. Jahrhundert erlebte Rusafa Resafa, Syria eine neuerliche Blüte. Die omaijadischen Kalifen nutzen den Ort als Sommerresidenz. Trotzdem blieb die Stadt überwiegend christlich. Der Untergang kam erst im 13. Jahrhundert mit Einfall der Mongolen.
