Zenkov Cathedral#

In the centre of the urban park of Almaty stands the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ from 1907. For fear of the many earthquakes in the region, the church is completely made of wood. With its colorful turrets, vaults and domes, this Russian Orthodox church is regarded as the 'little sister' of the Saint Basil's Cathedral on Moscow's Red Square.
Im Zentrum des Stadtparks von Almaty liegt die Auferstehungskathedrale aus dem Jahr 1907. Aus Angst vor den vielen Erdbeben der Region ist die Kirche vollständig aus Holz errichtet. Mit ihren farbenfrohen Türmchen, Gewölben und Kuppeln gilt das russisch-orthodoxe Gotteshaus als kleine Schwester der Basilius-Kathedrale am Roten Platz in Moskau.
