Outer Siq#

The tomb got its misleading name “treasury of the Pharao” from Bedouins, who expected to find a legendary treasure here. The structure lays right at the beginning of the outer Siq, a broad canyon that leads directly into the city center of Petra. The walls on either side are ornamented with temple and tomb facades.
Seinen irreführenden Namen „Schatzhaus des Pharao“ erhielt das Grabmal von Beduinen, die hier einen sagenhaften Schatz vermuteten. Das Bauwerk liegt am Beginn des äußeren Siqs, einer breiten Schlucht, die direkt zum Stadtzentrum Petras führt. Die Wände sind rechts und links mit Tempel- und Grabfassaden geschmückt.
