At the prime of the Nabatean Empire about 40,000 people lived here. The rock city could only be reached by a single entrance. The road there leads past pillar tombs, who are called Djinn Blocks by the locals, because according to stories they were built by evil spirits.
Zur Blütezeit des Nabatäerreiches lebten in Petra etwa 40.000 Menschen. Die Felsenstadt war nur durch einen einzigen Zugang erreichbar. Der Weg dorthin führt vorbei an Turmgräbern, die von den Einheimischen gerne als Djinn Blocks bezeichnet werden, weil sie den Erzählungen nach von bösen Geistern geschaffen wurden.
