The area around Madaba used to be wooded. After extensive deforestations starting in antiquity the landscape now is a dry wasteland.
Einst war das Gebiet rund um Madaba bewaldet. Nach umfangreichen Abholzungen, die bereits in der Antike ihren Anfang nahmen, präsentiert sich die Landschaft heute als trockene Steppe.
