Medan Medan, Indonesia is the capital of the North Sumatra province and the third biggest city in Indonesia behind Jakarta and Surabaya. Most of its more than 2,000,000 inhabitants are Muslim (followed by Christians with about 30%).

The Great Mosque of Medan was designed by a Dutch architect in the beginning of the 20th century as a part of the Maimun palace complex with an octagonal symmetrical layout, combining architectural elements from Morocco, Europe and the Middle East.

Medan Medan, Indonesia ist die Hauptstadt der Provinz Nord-Sumatra und die drittgrößte Stadt Indonesiens nach Jakarta und Surabaya. Die meisten seiner mehr als 2,000.000 Einwohner sind Muslime (gefolgt von Christen mit etwa 30%).

Die Grosse Moschee von Medan wurde von einem niederländischen Architekten zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts als Teil des Maimun-Palastkomplexes auf achteckigem symmetrischem Grundriss entworfen und verbindet dabei architektonische Elemente aus Marokko, Europa und dem Mittleren Osten.
