Auf wilden Schlammpisten, die laufend von Erdrutschen bedroht sind, geht es nur Meter für Meter vorwärts. Lange Kolonnen an Lastwagen zeugen von der großen Bedeutung dieses Verkehrsweges, denn die Strasse bildet die einzig sichere Landverbindung nach Ladakh, weil die zweite mögliche Route durch das gefährliche Kaschmir führt.
On wild dirt roads, which are constantly threatened by landslides, one only gets forward meter by meter. Long columns of trucks testify to the importance of this traffic route, because the road is the only safe land connection to Ladakh, because the second possible route leads through the dangerous Kashmir.
