Der Gonkhang im Kloster von Diskit hat eine Besonderheit zu bieten, denn hier zeigt sich der schwarze Schutzgott Mahakala in weißer Farbe.Dass er zudem in seinen Händen Armknochen hält, nährt so manche Legende. Die Skelettteile sollen von einem mongolischen Heerführer stammen, der bei der beabsichtigten Zerstörung dieses Raumes plötzlich tot umfiel. Doch jedesmal, wenn die Mönche versuchten, die Leiche des Mongolen aus dem Raum zu werfen, fanden sie am nächsten Tag Kopf und Arme wieder im Schoße des Schutzgottes – und dort liegen sie noch heute.
The Gonkhang in the monastery of Diskit has to offer a special feature, because here the black god of protection Mahakala shows in white color. Moreover, he holds arm bones in his hands, that nurtures some legends. The skeleton parts are said to come from a Mongol commander, who suddenly died in the intended destruction of this room. But every time the monks tried to throw the body of the Mongol out of the room, the next day they found their heads and arms in the womb of the god of protection - and they are still there today.
