Ein paar Hundert Meter weiter warten die ersten Mönche auf eine ganz besondere puja, eine rituelle Zeremonie, die heute im tibetischen Haupttempel von Leh stattfinden soll. Beherrscht wird eine buddhistische Klosteranlage von Dukhang, dem Versammlungsraum der Mönche. Dort treffen sie sich - meist einmal täglich - zum gemeinsamen Gebet. Man ehrt die gottgleichen Wesen, bringt Opfergaben und rezitiert aus heiligen Texten. Zu besonderen Feiertagen reist manchmal ein hochgestellter Lama, ein buddhistischer Lehrer, aus einem anderen Kloster an. Heute gibt sich ein berühmter Abt aus Bhutan die Ehre. Der Andrang ist entsprechend groß und man nimmt gerne Wartezeiten in Kauf, um sich segnen zu lassen.
A few hundred meters away, the first monks wait for a very special puja, a ritual ceremony that is scheduled to take place in the main Tibetan temple of Leh today. Dominated is a Buddhist monastery of the Dukhang, the meeting room of the monks. There they meet - usually once a day - for common prayer. One honors the godlike beings, makes offerings and recites from sacred texts. On special holidays, a high-ranking Lama, a Buddhist teacher, sometimes arrives from another monastery. Today, a famous abbot from Bhutan does the honor. The crowd is correspondingly large and you like to wait in order to be blessed.
