Half an hour up the hill can be guessed why Manali once counted among the most beautiful villages in northern India. The old village center has been preserved almost unchanged and tells of the common life of the people with their pets. While in the cities of India, the caste system is already cracking clearly, the strict social order is still intact here. The origin of the castes goes back more than 3000 years and goes back once again to the immigrant fair-skinned Aryans, who strengthened their new position of power over the dark-skinned Dravidian native population by the introduction of hierarchical levels. To this day, the basic rule is: The darker the skin color the lower the caste.
