Zwischen den Häuserzeilen der Altstadt verstecken sich zahlreiche Gotteshäuser wie die Betlehem-Kirche, die der armenischen Gemeinde gehört. Fast 300 Jahre alte Fresken glänzen von Decke und Wänden. Streng und mahnend blicken die Propheten, die Heiligen und die Kirchenväter auf jene, die sich hier zur Liturgie versammeln. Die Wucht der Bildnisse im kleinen Kirchenraum schweißte die Gemeinschaft der Gläubigen zusammen und sollte wohl bewirken, das niemals auch nur der Hauch eines Zweifels am Glauben aufkam.

Between the rows of houses of the old town, there are many houses of god like the Betlemi Church which belongs to the Armenian community. Nearly 300 years old frescos shine from ceiling and walls. Strict and admonishing, the prophets, the saints and the church fathers look down to those who gather here for the liturgy. The force of the images in the small church space welded together the community of the faithful and should probably cause that no one ever had even a tinge of doubt concerning faith.
