Camels, Gaochang#

Camels outside of Gaochang, the ruins of an ancient city 30 km (18 mi) southeast of Turpan. Built in the first century B.C., it was an important hub along the Silk Road.
The city was burnt and destroyed in wars of the 14th century, but many impressive temple and palace ruins remain.
