A new building - constructed in the form of an ancient bronze cooking vessel called a ding - was opened in 1996 on Peoples Square.

It houses some 120,000 items including bronzes, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, furniture, jades, ancient coins, seals, and sculptures.
