In den 1930er Jahren wagte man sich mit Flugzeugen erstmals in die Antarktis. Der Flug vom 23. November 1935 ging in die Geschichte ein. Die zwei Piloten der Polar Star mussten aufgrund von Treibstoffproblemen 40 km vor ihrem Ziel landen. Von dort kämpften sie sich 6 Tage bis zu einer Station zu Fuß durch – doch dort war niemand. Schließlich wurden sie doch gerettet – 53 Tage nach ihrer Bruchlandung.
In the 1930s, people dared for the first time to set off for the Antarctic by plane. The flight on November 23, 1935 went down in history. The two pilots of the Polar Star had to land due to fuel problems 40 km from their destination. From there, they fought their way on foot for six days to reach a polar station - but there was nobody there. After all, they were saved - 53 days after their crash landing.
