Das Metropolitan Opera House gehört heute zu den berühmtesten Opernhäuser der Welt, doch anfangs gab es ein großes Problem: Neben der festungsähnlichen Architektur stieß vor allem die Akustik auf heftige Kritik. Erst nach einer umfassenden Renovierung im Jahr 2010 – zum 50. Geburtstag des Lincoln Centers – sind auch die letzten Skeptiker zufriedengestellt.
Today, the Metropolitan Opera House is one of the most famous opera houses in the world, but at the beginning there was a big problem: In addition to its fortress-like architecture, especially the acoustics had to take the flak.
