Hermosa Beach#

The first survey was made in 1901 and in 1904 the first pier was built. It was constructed entirely of wood and extended 500 feet out into the ocean. In 1913 the original pier was partly washed away and it was rebuilt of concrete 1,000 feet (300 m) long and was paved with asphalt in its entire length.
