Ecuador already bears its geographic location in its name. The national territory extends on both sides of the equator. With 16 million inhabitants on only 280,000 km², the Andean state holds a record: it is the most densely populated in Latin America. Here the Andes show their volcanic face. A chain of volcanoes crosses the country, with the Chimborazo and the Cotopaxi leading the way.
Ecuador trägt seine geographische Lage bereits im Namen. Das Staatsgebiet erstreckt sich beiderseits des Äquators. Mit 16 Mio. Einwohnern auf 280.000 km² hält der Andenstaat einen Rekord: Er ist der am dichtest besiedelte in Lateinamerika. Hier zeigen die Anden ihr vulkanisches Gesicht. Eine Kette von Feuerbergen durchzieht das Land, allen voran der Chimborazo und der Cotopaxi.
