Valle de Mai#

The Vallee de Mai is home to no less than eight species of palm trees, which are unique in the world. The landscape is the remnant of a primeval forest that already existed when the Seychelles were still part of the supercontinent Gondwana. Due to the long evolutionary isolation, the Seychelles form a unique retreat for endemic plants and animals.
Im Vallee de Mai wachsen nicht weniger als acht Palmenarten, die es sonst nirgends auf der Welt gibt. Die Landschaft ist der Rest eines urzeitlichen Waldes, der schon existierte, als die Seychellen noch zum Superkontinent Gondwana gehörten. Durch die lange evolutionäre Isolation bilden die Seychellen ein einzigartiges Refugium für endemische Pflanzen und Tiere.
