Tea Plantation#

Tea plantations line the mountain pass road. It was as late as 1962 that the tea bushes were imported from Kenya as an experiment. However, they flourished so well in the rainy climate that they now cover all the requirements of the Seychelles. The various types of tea, highly appreciated among afcionados, are cultivated here without the use of pesticides.
Entlang der Passtrasse säumen Teeplantagen den Weg. Die Teebüsche wurden erst 1962 versuchsweise aus Kenia eingeführt. Sie gediehen in dem niederschlagsreichen Klima jedoch so gut, dass sie heute den gesamten Eigenbedarf der Seychellen decken. Die unter Tee-Liebhabern hochgelobten Sorten werden hier ohne Verwendung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln angebaut.
