'Island of Abundance': Mahé Mahé, Seychelles bears his nickname for a reason as it offers scenic beauties in abundance. The mountains, overgrown with dense jungles, rise more than 900 m and are surrounded by a largely untouched coastal landscape with countless paradisical bays. Although the island with its 27 km length and hardly 8 km width is only a tiny point on the world maps, 90% of the Seychellois live here, about 80,000 people. As most of them live in the island's capital Victoria, there is still plenty of space left for unspoiled nature. Yet a short round trip around the northern tip of Mahé from the Beau Vallon Bay to Victoria and a hike to the bay of Anse Major gives a nice impression of the island's variety.
