For the early settlers the coconut was the economic basis of their existence. Every part of the tree is utilized. The wood of the trunks is used for the construction of huts. The palm leaves are bundled to brooms or when woven used as house walls and baskets. After the twelfth harvest, coconut palms bring their maximum yield. The fruit weighing up to two and a half kilograms can be consumed directly or serves as the starting product for oils, fats and the tasty coconut milk.
