Simien Mountains National Park#

At the lower altitudes of the Simien Mountains, the comparatively humid climate offers good conditions for agriculture and livestock farming. But the exploitation by humans, however, repeatedly leads to conflicts with the park management and UNESCO. By means of resettlement projects it is tried to preserve the unique nature conservation area. For many, the arising tourism is the only hope.

In den tieferen Lagen der Simien-Mountains bietet das vergleichsweise feuchte Klima gute Voraussetzungen für Landwirtschaft und Viehzucht. Die menschliche Nutzung führt jedoch immer wieder zu Konflikten mit Parkverwaltung und der UNESCO. Mittels Umsiedlungsprojekten versucht man, das einzigartige Naturschutzgebiet zu erhalten. Für viele bildet der aufkeimende Tourismus die einzige Hoffnung.
