Biete Abba Libanos#

A vast labyrinth of passages and caves leads to the rock-hewn church of Abba Libanos, built by the wife of King Lalibela, at least according to legend. She mistakenly had accused her husband of infidelity. When she realized her error, she had this church built in a single day as an atonement. What they did not accomplish until nightfall, the angels finished.
Ein kaum überschaubares Labyrinth von Gängen und Höhlen führt zur Felsenkirche Abba Libanos, erbaut von der Gattin Lalibelas – zumindest der Legende nach. Sie hatte ihren Mann nämlich fälschlicherweise der Untreue bezichtigt. Als sie ihren Irrtum einsah, errichtete sie zur Buße diese Kirche in nur einem einzigen Tag. Was sie bis Anbruch der Nacht nicht schaffte, vollendeten die Engel.
