Particularly sacred monastery complexes, such as Kebran Gabriel, may only be entered by men because women are regarded as ritually impure because of menstruation and childbirth. Past the modest huts of the priests you get to the round church from the 17th century with a diameter of 26 metres. A monk will gladly present treasures from the small museum, including valuable Bibles. By the way: the Bible of Ethiopia is the absolutely longest one. It contains some additional chapters like the Book of Enoch or the Book of Jubilees. These texts are not accepted by the rest of the churches, because they do not fit into the concept because of their content or for religio-political reasons.
Besonders heilige Klosteranlagen wie Kebran Gabriel dürfen nur von Männern betreten werden, weil Frauen im Zusammenhang mit Menstruation und Geburt als rituell unrein gelten. Vorbei an den bescheidenen Wohnhütten der Priester gelangt man zur 26 m durchmessenden Rundkirche aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Gerne präsentiert ein Mönch Schätze aus dem kleinen Museum, darunter wertvolle Bibeln. Übrigens: die Bibel Äthiopiens ist die längste überhaupt. Sie enthält einige zusätzliche Kapitel wie das Buch Henoch oder das Jubiläenbuch. Diese Texte werden von den restlichen Kirchen abgelehnt, weil sie aus inhaltlichen oder religionspolitischen Gründen nicht ins Konzept passen.
