Numerous markets still dominate the city with its 150,000 inhabitants. Since Christian traders were not allowed to enter the Islamic Harar until 1874, a lively market developed outside the city walls which still exists today.
Noch immer dominieren zahlreiche Märkte die 150.000 Einwohner-Stadt. Da christliche Händler bis 1874 das islamische Harar nicht betreten durften, entwickelte sich außerhalb der Stadtmauern ein lebhafter Markt, der bis heute besteht.
