The respective reigning Pharaoh was regarded as his personification. Why he appears in the form of a alcon is probably rooted in ancient myths. Those people who inhabited the Sahara west of the Nile, when the present desert was a still fertile savannah with rich animal population, already revered the falcon as a sacred animal.
Der jeweils regierende Pharao galt als seine Personifizierung. Warum er gerade als Falke auftrat liegt vermutlich in uralten Mythen begründet. Jene Völker, die die Sahara westlich des Nils bewohnten, als die jetzige Wüste noch eine fruchtbare Savanne mit reichem Tierbestand war, verehrten den Falken bereits als heiliges Tier.
