Hermopolis#

In such form he also decorates the entrance to Hermopolis, once the capital of the 15th Egyptian nome. The ancient Egyptian provinces were named after certain local plants or animals. So the 15th province bore the name "leporine nome".

So schmückt er auch den Eingang nach Hermopolis, einst Hauptstadt des 15. ägyptischen Gaus. Die altägyptischen Provinzen waren nach bestimmten dort heimischen Pflanzen oder Tieren benannt. So trug die 15. Provinz den Namen Hasengau.
