Like an upwardly tapering bamboo pole, the "101" follows the laws of Feng Shui. The special steel and concrete structure gives it exceptional stability, because the building is exposed to both violent typhoons and strong earthquakes. To dampen the vibrations of the tower in case of an emergency, a gold-plated steel ball with five and a half meters in diameter and 660 t weight was hung like a pendulum between the 88th and 92nd floor. If the "101" begins to totter, it will swing into the other direction, absorbing the energy and stabilizing the building.
Einer sich nach oben hin verjüngenden Bambusstange gleichend, folgt der 101 den Gesetzen des Feng Shui. Die besondere Stahl- und Betonstruktur verleiht ihm eine außergewöhnliche Stabilität, denn das Bauwerk ist sowohl heftigen Taifunen als auch starken Erdbeben ausgesetzt. Um die Schwingungen des Turmes im Notfall zu dämpfen, wurde zwischen Stockwerk 88 und 92 eine vergoldete Stahlkugel mit fünfeinhalb Metern Durchmesser und 660 t Gewicht wie ein Pendel aufgehängt. Wenn der 101 ins Wanken gerät, wird sie gegenpendeln, Energie absorbieren und das Gebäude stabilisieren.
