Landscape Painting#

The misty Alishan, 2500m high, seems to be arisen from a Chinese landscape painting. Monumental forests, cliffy rocks and the constant interplay of clouds and rain have inspired generations of artists. The representations of nature show - typical Chinese style - man only as a tiny outgrowth. Nature, as the major expression of harmony, serves as a model for the Taoist WuWei, the non-action, according to which man intervenes as little as possible actively in human affairs.
Der 2500 m hohe, nebelverhangene Alishan scheint einem chinesischen Landschaftsgemälde entsprungen. Monumentale Wälder, schroffe Felsen und das ständige Spiel von Wolken und Regen haben Generationen von Künstlern inspiriert. Die Naturdarstellungen zeigen in typisch chinesischer Art den Menschen nur als winzig kleine Nebenerscheinung. Als größter Ausdruck der Harmonie dient die Natur als Vorbild für das taoistische WuWei, das Nicht-Handeln, wonach der Mensch so wenig wie möglich aktiv in das Weltgeschehen eingreift.
