The Blues and Royals are part of the Household Cavalry Regiment performing ceremonial duties on state and royal occasions as well as an armored reconnaissance unit taking part in active military operations around the world.

As one of the senior regiments of the British Army, the lineage of The Blues and Royals includes The Royal Horse Guards (Blues) and The Royal Dragoons (1st Dragoons) dating back to the Restoration Period of 1660-1661.
