This monastery owns much of its fame to the fact that the musician Frederic Chopin lived here with his friend George Sand 18238/139. George Sand was in reality Madame Aurora Dudevant, one of the more "colorfull" women of her time. One day, she just left husband and children with one of her many lovers in Paris. Chopin was only one on her list, but her liaison lasted a number of years. Sand wrote the book "A winter on Mallorca" that is rather negative about both the island and its inhabitants. Das Kloster ist nicht zuletzte deshalb so berühmt, weil hier der Musiker Frederick Chopin mit seiner Freundin George Sand 1838/1839 lebte. Georg Sand war in Wirklichkeit Madame Aurora Dudevant, eine der schillernsten Frauen ihrer Zeit, die eines Tags Mann und Kinder einfach verließ und dann mit dem ersten von vielen Liebhabern ihr Glück in Paris suchte. Chopin war nur einer auf der Liste, aber ihre Liaison überdauerte mehrere Jahre. Von Sand stammt das für Mallorca und seine Bewohner nicht besonders schmeichelhafte Buch "Ein Winter auf Mallorca".
