Hospital#

A bit to the west of La Rambla, about halfway to the port, is an old building whose courtyard is shown here. It was at some stage a hospital, with its own little garden for herbs, fruits and flowers one floor up (!), visible in the background.

It was this hospital where Gaudi died after his tragic accident (he was overrun by a street car). Today, the building houses various research institutions, among them the Barcelona Hub of the Academia Europaea.
