Mathematic and astronomy were the passions of Aristarchus of Samos. He developed the heliocentric system 2300 years ago. The sun is the centre of the universe in the heliocentric system and not the earth as hitherto. His revolutionary model didn't go down particularly well with his contemporaries. Observations of Copernicus, Kepler and Galilei confirmed his theses 1800 years later at a time when Samos long since lost its political role.
Mathematik und Astronomie waren die Leidenschaften von Aristarchos von Samos. Schon vor 2300 Jahren entwickelte er das heliozentrische Weltbild, das nicht wie bisher die Erde, sondern die Sonne in den Mittelpunkt des Kosmos stellt. Bei seinen Zeitgenossen stieß er mit seinem revolutionären Modell jedoch auf wenig Gegenliebe. Erst 1800 Jahre später zeigten Beobachtungen von Kopernikus, Kepler und Galilei die Richtigkeit seiner These – zu einer Zeit, als Samos längst keine politische Rolle mehr spielte.
