A few glimpses of Dubrovnik#
Dubrovnik Dubrovnik (earlier called Ragusa) is one of the most prominent tourist destinations of Croatia located on the Mediterranean Sea. It has about 45.000 inhabitants and hs been UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
It has a twisted history of thousands of years. The most important more recent event was to become part of Croatia in 1991 as consequence of the breakup of former Yugoslavia.
In the process, the city was under siege by the then still existing Yugoslav army for seven months. It suffered heavy casualties. The shelling damaged more than half of the buildings. Most of them were restored between 1995 and 1999 following UNESCO guidelines, i.e. repairs were performed in the original style.
Thus, it is again one of the beauties on the Coratian coast with very good touristic infrastructure and good connections by air.
