The Karlskirche (St. Charles Borromeo Church) in Vienna, built between 1716 and 1737, is a Baroque masterpiece. Its architect, Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach, sought to fuse elements and ideas from the most significant churches in Europe, including the Pantheon and St. Peters Basilica in Rome, the Hagia Sofia in Constantinople, the Dome des Invalides in Paris, and St. Pauls Cathedral in London.
