Only the church in the town centre withstood the wet masses, although it was buried by metres of mud. The building had a 10 m high church tower before the mudslide rolled over it.
Nur die Kirche im Ortszentrum widerstand den Schlammmassen, wurde aber meterhoch verschüttet. Vor der Schlammlawine verfügte das Gebäude über einen 10 m hohen Kirchenraum.
