Rice is the most important foodstuff in the world as it feeds more than half the population of the world. In Asian countries it has a central cultural importance. OGrowing rice is often attributed to gods. The word "rice" means "food" or "meal" in several languages.
Das weltweit wichtigste Nahrungsmittel, das mehr als die Hälfte der Weltbevölkerung ernährt, hat in asiatischen Ländern auch eine zentrale kulturelle Bedeutung. Meist wird die Erschaffung des Reises den Göttern zugeschrieben. Das Wort „Reis“ bedeutet in mehreren Sprachen gleichzeitig „Essen“ oder „Mahlzeit“.
