The Konark Sun Temple Konark Sun Temple, India was built in the 13th century AD about 35 kilometres northeast from Puri on the coast of Odisha and in the state's coastal plain. Its reception in public has always been controversial, e.g. the leftist author Bhattacharya criticized the 'brahmanical temple erotica', offering it as evidence of 'female exploitation by the dominant classes of Hindu male society' while on the other hand, the Nobel Laureate Tagore wrote 'here the language of stone surpasses the language of human'... So judge for yourself!
Der Konark-Sonnentempel Konark Sun Temple, India wurde im 13. Jahrhundert n. Chr. etwa 35 Kilometer nordöstlich von Puri an der Küste von Odisha erbaut. Die öffentliche Rezeption war schon immer umstritten, z.B. der linke Schriftsteller Bhattacharya kritisierte den "brahmanischen Tempel der Erotik", indem er ihn als Beweis für die "Ausbeutung von Frauen durch die herrschenden Klassen der hinduistischen Männergesellschaft" anführte. Auf der anderen Seite schrieb der Nobelpreisträger Tagore: "Hier übertrifft die Sprache des Steins die Sprache des Menschen." Also urteile selbst!
