Upsala Glacier#

Upsala Glacier Upsala Glacier is with an area of 565km² the biggest glacier in the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares as well as one of the biggest in the world. The glacier ends in the Lago Argentino with a 4,5km long and about 60m high brim. In contrast to the Perito Moreno Glacier, the Upsala glacier is shrinking, in the last years approximately 5km, which leads time and again to huge, calving icebergs floating for a long time in the lake.

Mit einer Fläche von 565km² ist der Upsala-Gletscher Upsala Glacier sowohl der größte Gletscher des Parque Nacional Los Glaciares als auch einer der größten der Welt. Der Gletscher endet im Lago Argentino und bildet dort eine etwa 4,5km lange und 60m hohe Abbruchkante. Im Gegensatz zum Perito-Moreno-Gletscher zieht der Upsala-Gletscher sich zurück, in den letzten Jahren um ca. 5km, was immer wieder zu riesigen, abkalbenden Eisbergen führt, die dann lange Zeit im See treiben
