Public toilets were only accessible to men. They were considered most important as rooms for communication. Often, good parts of a day were spent here discussing politics. It is not sure whether the saying "politics stinks" has this origin, but if not ture, it is a good story!
Die öffentlichen Latrinen waren ausschließlich Männern vorbehalten. Sie dienten auch als kommunikative Einrichtungen. Man verbrachte hier den halben Nachmittag und diskutierte über Politik. Ob dabei der stehende Begriff „Politik stinkt“ geprägt wurde, ist allerdings historisch nicht gesichert.
