All pilgrims were recognizable by their equipment: cloak, hat, leather pouch and the pilgrim's staff both as a support and weapon. As a pilgrim badge the pilgrim's scallop allowed admittance into the ecclesiastical hostels.
Erkennbar waren alle Jakobspilger an ihrer Ausstattung: Umhang, Hut, Lederbeutel und der Stock als Stütze und Waffe. Als Pilgerabzeichen gewährte die Jakobsmuschel Einlass in die kirchlichen Herbergen.
